This is our food section. Fond of something sweet, try this “Hyderabadi delicacy” named as “Shahi Toast Recipe“, which is an inseparable part of their culinary heritage. To make this sweet in authentic style, bread pieces are deep fried in ghee until crispy and then topped with creamy milk. This easy “traditional sweet recipe” can be prepared in just a few minutes. This Shahi Toast Recipe is for 2 – 6 person.
Ingredients required to prepare Shahi Toast :-
- Bread (6 slices)
- Water (1/2 ml)
- Black cardamom (2 pieces)
- Powdered green cardamom (2 pieces)
- Milk (3 full cup)
- Cashews (10 pieces approx.)
- Pistachios (12 pieces approx.)
- Deshi Ghee (1/2 cup)
- Sugar (1/2 cup)
- Saffron strands (6 pieces approx.)
- Almonds (6 pieces approx.)
How to make Shahi Toast
- Take a pan and heat water along with sugar, once the sugar dissolves add saffron strands. Most important that let it boil, till the liquid gets two string consistency. Once the sweet liquid turns a little thick, put off from stove.
- Take another pan, boil the milk until the milk appear about 1/4th of its original quantity, add cardamom powder, 1/4th part of sweet liquid (step 1) and mix both of them. Continue to heat it for 5 minutes because it pour deep inside.
- Now, take the bread slices and cut their sides and slice it two triangles or rectangular or any other designer shape. Then, heat deshi ghee in a pan and shallow fry the bread until they are crisp and golden brown on each side. Once the bread slices are fried, soak each slice in the remaining sweet liquid (step 1) for about a minute. So that they can absorb sweet liquid inside.
- Put it on the serving dish. Pour the prepared liquid (step 2) over the bread slices and garnish with the chopped nuts.
